New Interim Town Attorney Appointed after Resignation of Dorman

Early last week, Jones Town Attorney John Dorman resigned from his position. In a resignation letter dated January 12, he announced that his final day in office would be January 15, 2026.

Mr. Dorman served as the Town’s attorney for nearly three years, beginning March 20, 2023. He was appointed shortly after the termination of Devol and Associates in early 2023.

During his tenure, Mr. Dorman oversaw notable changes to the Town’s practices related to open records compliance. He conducted trainings and provided guidance to Town leadership on issues of accountability and transparency in local government.

At the January 20 meeting of the Board of Trustees, the Town appointed Russ Cochran as Interim Town Attorney. Mr. Cochran has served the Town of Jones as a Municipal Prosecutor since January 2025.
