Mission Statement

The Jones Journal exists to share stories that educate, inform, and celebrate our community.
We are committed to truth, transparency, and thoughtful storytelling—highlighting what is good, addressing what matters, and helping our neighbors understand the forces shaping life in Jones and the surrounding communities.

Rooted in Philippians 4:8, we aim to focus on what is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent, and worthy of praise—without ignoring hard truths that require accountability and action.

Core Values

1. Truth & Accuracy

We value factual reporting, careful sourcing, and clear context.
Truth is not shaped to fit a narrative—it is pursued, verified, and presented responsibly.

2. Transparency & Accountability

We believe informed communities are stronger communities.
The Jones Journal promotes open government, ethical leadership, and public accountability through accessible reporting and documentation.

3. Community-Centered Storytelling

Local voices matter.
We prioritize stories that reflect the people, families, students, athletes, volunteers, and leaders who make up our community.

4. Education & Empowerment

Information should empower, not overwhelm.
We explain complex issues—municipal decisions, public finance, policies, and civic processes—in ways that help readers understand and engage.

5. Celebration of the Good

We intentionally highlight achievements, service, perseverance, and moments worth celebrating—because good news deserves space, too.

6. Fairness & Integrity

We strive to be firm but fair, curious but respectful.
Critique is directed at actions and systems, not personal attacks.
